Italy is the new men's team pursuit Olympic champion

A great victory at the Izu Velodrome

The Italian team, riding on the Pinarello Bolide HR won Gold in the men’s team pursuit for the first time in 61 years, breaking their own world record to beat Denmark in a thrilling final at the Izu Velodrome.

3min 42.032sec is the time the finishing time of the italians, just enough to beat Denmark's time (3:42.198). The super-short time advantage makes the aerodynamics extremely important: thanks to the hard work in developing custom handlebars and refined frame aerodynamics, the equimpent assured the crucial marginal gain for winning the race. 

The most prestigious event of the track cycling program took place 145km outside Tokyo, in a velodrome that allowed only a limited number of spectators that were were treated to a brilliant final. Led by the INEOS Grenadiers 25-year-old Filippo Ganna, the Italy quartet did an amazing growing performance circling in front of an enthralled crowd of around 1,000 fans in Shizuoka.

Regaining Italy’s advantage with a superb final lap, the team arrived compact and strong to the victory.
