With the conclusion of the 2004 World Cup at the Giro di Lombardia Saturday in Como, Italy, the Pinarello sponsored Fassa Bortolo squad finished 4th overall in the team rankings with 47pts. Fassa's best placed rider was Spaniard Juan Antonio Flecha, winner of the Zuri Metzegetze in August who was fifth overall with 140 points. Another bright spot for Fassa Bortolo was the performance of 23 year old Swiss rider Fabian Cancellara, 12th overall with 40 points on the strength of his superb ride in Paris Roubaix this past April.
