Terrific Tris For Petacchi; Three Out Of Six Stage Wins

It seems Alessandro Petacchi is a mudder. Everytime

it rains, he wins. Today, the 30 year old sprinter from

La Spezia powered to another win in Valmontone, his third victory in six stages on his Pinarello Dogma. Petacchi told the media that he wanted to win today's stage "to pay back my teammates for messing up yesterday," when Petacchi was boxed in in the stage final.

"In Spoleto the whole team worked very hard, but then I made a mistake and was blocked going through the final corners," said Petacchi. "Today in Valmontone,

it was actually a harder sprint, especially with the rain, but my Fassa Bortolo team was impressive again and

I just gave it the final sprint to win."
