In a performance of almost total domination, Fassa Bortolo's Alessandro Petacchi took his 4th stage win of this year's Giro d'Italia in Policoro. Petacchi sprinted to victory aboard his Pinarello Dogma and is now three wins short of the Giro record of seven stage wins in one Giro. Dario Cioni maintained his 7th place on gc.
