Stage 2 of Tirreno-Adriatico from Latina to Maddaloni, Fassa Bortolo's super sprinter Alessandro Petacchi powered his Pinarello Dogma to his second stage win in a row and his 4th win of 2004. Petacchi once again bested Mario Cipollini in the dash to the line and maintained his T-A yellow and red eader's jersey.
