Bernal rolled home to seal the Young Rider jersey and wrap up sixth overall. Speaking to TeamSky.com after the stage, the young Colombian declared himself happy with his Team Sky debut.
He said: "I’m very happy with the confidence the team showed in me. All of the guys did a really good job - they always kept me in the first part of the peloton and I’m really happy to finish sixth on the general classification and win the Young Rider’s jersey.
"I think it’s good for my first race with the team and first race of the year and we can learn a lot from this. I think for sure in the future I can be better."
